Bookmark Manager Drives Browser

On May 11, 1997 Viable Software Alternatives announced the release of SurfSilly Bookmark Manager v4.20 for Windows and Windows95, the latest version of the acclaimed Internet navigation
tool.

"A direct link to the browser that allows access to sites from the bookmark manager itself, at the same time retaining a large, organizable storage capacity - that's what we aimed for with SurfSilly. We've come up with that - and more", said Viable President Casey Butler.

"SurfSilly is a truly unique tool that we feel is the answer to making surfing sessions more productive," he continued, "The program offers unsurpassed features for collecting and organizing Web URLs as sites are
visited, allowing users to recall and revisit them with a click of the mouse. We feel SurfSilly answers a long-standing need for the easy storage and access of Web URLs."

SurfSilly is a retractable, rotatatable toolbar that stays out of the way until needed. The toolbar is accessable while browsing simply by moving the mouse pointer to the top (or bottom) of the screen.

The program communicates directly with Netscape Navigator & Communicator (versions 1.1 and up) and Microsoft Internet Explorer (versions 2.0, and up) to store the URL of the currently displayed Web page, or to send the browser to a URL chosen from the user's bookmarks.

SurfSilly stores WWW Bookmarks in drop-down menus that the user may title to suit his or her needs. Up to eight menus are available per toolbar.  To facilitate organization, up to six colorful headings can be inserted within each menu.

Menus and bookmarks are repositioned using drag-and-drop. Version 4.20 includes bookmark Search and Sort features, in addition to a new slide-show style Browse feature that allows collected URLs to be visited sequentially.

In addition to allowing users to import their existing bookmarks, they can also import bookmarks from nearly any HTML document, including the current Web page their browser is displaying. SurfSilly sports a "Bookmark Palette" for the user to easily edit, sort, and arrange bookmarks.

Collected URLs and comments can be exported as text or as a fully formatted HTML Web page, Menu Titles and Headings intact. SurfSilly is a great way for anyone with a Web page to collect URLs, organize them, and create  "Favorite Links" Web pages.
