PC-Plus Systems a Melbourne-based security software company introduces PRIVATE-i, a web page encryption software program which provides a security solution for companies using the Internet or an Intranet to share sensitive information on a restricted, or charge-per-view basis.
PRIVATE-i utility encrypts web pages or files and merges them into a DES bundle by selecting a 64-bit (or 40-bit) encryption key. The contents of the bundle are scrambled to the extent that the chances of an unauthorized viewer reading the restricted information are one in 72,057,638,461,190,720.
A PRIVATE-i bundle can contain absolutely anything which Netscape Navigator can display; QuickTime movies, VRML virtual-reality models, static graphic files, recorded digital audio sounds, and more. Encrypted bundles can also be stored on floppy disks.
The PRIVATE-i does not need any particular Internet service provider to operate; any provider which lets you store a web page can be used to store PRIVATE-i encrypted bundles.
