St. John the Baptist Catholic Church is located in the heart of downtown Schenectady, New York.  Established in 1830, it  is the oldest Roman Catholic Church in Schenectady.  The church and this Christian community are graced with warmth and beauty.  Our church doors are open to everyone.

The mission of St. John the Baptist Church is to proclaim that Jesus is Lord and Savior through a living Christian Community.  The parish strives to be united in worship and prayer, empowered by the Holy Spirit to love and serve our brothers and sisters in the parish and the community at large.  We continue to strive to foster our unity in God's people by being receptive to the presence of Jesus in one another by celebrating our diverse gifts.

St. John's has collaborated with St. Joseph's and Sacred Heart Church to offer religious education classes to the children of our community.  Classes are  available to children from pre-school through high school.
