PRAYER AND WORSHIP COMMITTEE
LITURGY PLANNING COMMITTEE
MEETING,
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2007
PRESENT: Walt Chura, Mark DiCerbo, Jr., Gary Lessard, Cassie Kiszkiel,
Maureen Burger, Roy Bordeau
Walt opened the meeting with prayer.
Discussion on the proposed color change for vestments and altar cloths for
Advent. The diocese is suggesting we use purple rather than blue and we
had asked the diocese to send a color swatch to be sure we had the proper shade
of purple. We did not hear back from Albany and Father Mike has indicated that
it is not important to him what color, so we will stay with the blue.
Cassie will get in touch with Mark DiCerbo and Fred Simone regarding
placement of the Advent wreath. She will also check with Mark
Perrella
Cassie has spoken to Donna Simone regarding the Jesse tree. It will
be placed in front of the ambo and the Advent wreath will be on the opposite
side of the altar.
Fred Simone and Cassie will put up the Christmas trees before Christmas to
determine what condition they are in. Some of the trees are pre-lit and
others are not. Fred and Cassie will make decision on which ones to
use.
It was reported that St. Paul the Apostle Folk Group will be able to
provide us with music for our Christmas Eve mass. They will play Christmas
carols from 4:00 and mass will be at 4:30.
Walt will call Rick Johnson to find out what the decision is for Christmas
Day mass from SJB folk group. If they are unable to participate we will
need to find out as soon as possible to arrange for other music.
Gary Lessard, representing the folk group, will see if Wanda Fischer will
be able to provide a song during meditation on Dec. 4th to recognize the
beginning of Hanukah. Song suggested is "Don’t Let the Light Go Out"
Mark DiCerbo, Jr. will be taking a month or two off from co-coordinating the
acolytes. The pageant that was discussed earlier this year for
Advent time will not take place.
Walt Chura will find music for Roy for Christmas to perhaps have a
ecumenical service. Music is Sweet Sweet Spirit.
Mark DiCerbo Jr will check with acolytes who have been confirmed to see if
they have an interest to be Lectors at mass. He will also speak to Britney
Mazur for help in recruiting lectors.
There was further discussion on a Black Catholic prayer service. Walt
will speak to Rosetta Burke and get her input.
Walt will speak to Father Mike to see what his preference for Ash Wednesday
is. Mass, ashes, vespers, Stations. It was also
suggested that a light supper of soup, bread and water be held in the parish
center after Ash Wednesday service,.
Gary Lessard will check with the folk group director to see about long
range planning of music for Holy week and Easter. (March 16 - 23).
It is imperative that we know in time to make plans and to see if the folk group
will be available,.
Next meeting of this committee is Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008 at 6:30PM in the
Parish Center
