Twenty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time

Sisters and brothers, today we are reminded that we are asked to sacrifice much in order to follow in the footsteps of the Lord Jesus. Let us be grateful to God for this community of faith, which assures us that we never travel the Christian journey without the help and support of our brothers and sisters. As this Mass begins, we ask God to strengthen us on this journey.

MEDITATION:  23RD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

Taking the Bible at It's WORD

“Let us not be too sure we know the Bible just because we have learned not to be astonished at it, just because we have learned not to have problems with
it.  Have we ceased to question the book and be questioned by it?  Have
we ceased to fight it?  Then perhaps our reading is no longer
serious."
(Tom Merton, OPENING THE BIBLE, page 37)
