Easter Sunday

Brothers and sisters in the risen Christ, the power of the Holy Spirit fills this holy place with the joy of Christ’s resurrection. This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us celebrate this Mass with renewed faith and hope in the power of Christ to be the light of the world—a light that scatters the darkness of sin and death. Let ours be a song of praise and thanksgiving on this festive Easter day.

DO YOU HAVE 2-3HOURS PER MONTH TO HELP SOMEONE IN YOUR COMMUNITY? Caring for someone with dementia can be both isolating and exhausting for family members. THESE FAMILIES NEED YOUR HELP! Belonging to an Eddy Alzheimer’s Care Team, you only give the time you can when you can because there are several of you to share the role of helping the family. The average volunteer offers just 2-3 hours per month. The team provides non-medical support and friendship. All volunteers are offered training and continued support from the staff at Eddy Alzheimer’s Services. If you would like to receive more information, please contact Sandy Monahan at Eddy Alzheimer’s Services-238-4167 or emailmonahans@nehealth.com

SEDER MEAL

From early morning, when the ovens were turned on until the last pan was put away in the evening, volunteers worked tirelessly to ensure the success of our celebration.  It surely was a night for strengthening fellowship.  Sharing a meal in this spirit, our eating became an act of worship.

Special thanks to our head chef & Kitchen Supervisor, Mary Pidgeon and to Louise Zautner, whose help was invaluable in the efficient serving meals; Our helpers: Dave & Jane Rey, Diury Alvarado, Joe, Emi, Mattias & Vitas Carosella, Don Zautner, Carol Bartz, Walt Chura, Donna & Art Eastman Rick & Barbara White,, Fred Simone, Bob& Gloria DiBlase, Ed Feuerstein, Lynn Lucas, Mary Sieder, Mark Perrella and volunteers from the Ancient Order of Hibernians.

EASTER MEDITATION:  Alleluia!

"[N]ow the power of Easter has burst upon us with the resurrection of Christ. Now we find in ourselves a strength which is not our own, and which is freely given to us whenever we need it, raising us above the Law, giving us a new law which is hidden in Christ: the law of His merciful love for us. . . . The Christian has no Law but Christ. Our 'Law' is the new life itself which has been given to us in Christ. Our Law is not written in books but in the depths of our own hearts, not by the pen of human beings but by the finger of God. Our duty is now not just to obey but to live. We do not have to save ourselves, we are saved by Christ. We must live to God in Christ, not only as they who seek salvation but as they who are saved.    Thomas Merton, Seasons of Celebration, 145, 147.
