Third Sunday of Easter

Brothers and sisters in the risen Christ, with Easter joy we gather to give praise and thanks to our God, who raised Jesus from the dead. Today we walk with the two disciples on the road to Emmaus. Each time we celebrate the Mass, we experience some of the same things those two disciples experienced. Like them, we listen to the scriptures proclaimed and interpreted. We also recognize the Lord Jesus in the breaking of the bread. As this Mass begins, let our hearts burn within us as we meet the Lord in word and sacrament.

THANK YOU - Mark DiCerbo and I would like to thank all the acolytes that participated in our Holy Week services: Justin and Carli Aragosa; Michael, Christine and Rachel Natalie; Emi, Vitas and Mattias Carosella; Mikayla Thomas, Cecilia Holodak and Sarah and Kristen Perrella. A special "thank you" goes out to Justin for participating in every service we had from Palm Sunday through Easter Sunday. He has really shown dedication and leadership by taking a prominent role in this ministry. As I have seen in the past, they all made these holy days extra special and more meaningful for those who came to them. We are very blessed to have these kids and young adults give of their time and talent as acolytes. Mark Perrella, Assistant Acolyte Coordinator

                         MEDITATION:  THIRD SUNDAY OF EASTER
Read the following, realizing that many Biblical scholars speculate that Cleopas' companion on the road to Emmaus may have been HIS WIFE:  And in the U.S.?

". . .  [A]cknowledging discrimination against women at previous CBCI meetings, the bishops admitted that the presence of women in Indian Church structures is still ‘inadequate.’ Regardless of laywomen's contributions in education and health care, the statement says, ‘their potentials are yet to be sufficiently tapped in the administrative and executive roles, as well as the theological, liturgical, pastoral and missionary apostolate of the Church.’”  Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India, February 2008
