Our History

Rensselaer County Search and Rescue (RCSAR) is a non-profit organization formed to assist law enforcement agencies in locating and recovering lost or missing person.  It began as an unincorporated association in the summer of 1975. On February 6, 1976, the organization was incorporated, under the laws of New York State, by David Onderdonk.

Most of our searches encompass Rensselaer County. However, we are routinely called with excellent results to assist over 30 law enforcement agencies in a 100-mile radius of East Greenbush, including other counties of New York and parts of Massachusetts and Vermont.

RCSAR is run and operated solely through your tax-deductible donations. We depend upon your support to keep our organization running, so we can assist you should the need arise.
