ISP Merger Announced in
upstate New York and Connecticut
Copy of email message received today from my ISP, AlbanyNet of Albany, NY:
Great news! As your Internet Service Provider, we're proud to announce
that we've just gotten bigger, better, and smarter! How? On May 17, 1999
we became a part of BiznessOnline.com (NASDAQ NM: BIZZ), a comprised of
five ISP's serving Connecticut and northeastern New York. And though our
name won't change, there are a good number of things that will change for
the better that we thought you ought to know about.
For one, a new OC-12 sonet fiber network is being installed, so both
dial-up customers and businesses can reap the rewards of an increase of
over 10 times our current bandwidth. Know, too, that upcoming business
services, soon to be announced, will cover a lot of new ground, from new,
cost-effective telecommunication products to one of the most robust,
complete E-Commerce packages available anywhere. It absolutely,
positively automates everything a business needs to sell successfully on
the Web.
Of course, the things you've come to enjoy won't change at all. Like
personable, "hands-on" service. BiznessOnline.com understands the
importance of enhanced technologies, products and services, but we also
understand that it needs to earn your trust, completely and totally,
through responsiveness. And so, soon we'll be extending all levels of
service and installing a new, state-of-the-art data center, in downtown
Albany, NY that will insure our servers have the best connection to the
Internet and will be available 24 hours per day.
With the world changing as fast as it is, we're glad to be partnering this
new Internet adventure. Global 2000 and AlbanyNet in Albany, Borg Internet
Services in Utica, Ulsternet in Kingston, New York, and Connix in
Hartford, Connecticut---now all together as one.
Local. Global. Connected.
